Interim Financial Controller - Capital Projects

As Interim Financial Controller, you will play a key role in the financial management of a £500 million capital project, supporting the Finance Director in ensuring the successful delivery of capital infrastructure programs. This role is vital in applying financial discipline and control across a complex project, ensuring that investment decisions align with business objectives and contribute to the overall success of the program.

You will take personal responsibility for managing the financial performance of the project, providing accurate financial forecasting, reporting, and ensuring that capital investments stay within budget. Working closely with senior leaders across the business, you will assist in driving the financial success of a high-profile project and ensure the financial aspects of the project align with the strategic goals of the business.

Role Deliverables:
* Lead the financial management of a £500 million capital project, ensuring effective budget control and cost management.
* Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for the project, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to the Finance Director and relevant stakeholders.
* Provide financial analysis and reports to support decision-making, identifying financial risks and opportunities within the project.
* Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely financial forecasts for the project, aligning with business and investment objectives.
* Support procurement efforts to ensure cost-effectiveness and value for money in project expenditures.
* Ensure project investments are accurately recorded according to budget guidelines, and deviations from the plan are promptly identified and managed.
* Ensure that all financial reporting complies with relevant regulatory and governance standards.
* Assist in driving the financial success of the project, identifying areas for improvement and providing actionable recommendations.

Candidate Requirements:
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, etc.).
* Experience in project finance, particularly within large-scale capital projects in regulated industries (e.g., infrastructure, energy, etc.).
* Strong understanding of capital investment, budgeting, and financial reporting.
* Experience managing project financials within a matrixed or complex organizational structure.
* Proven ability to provide financial leadership and guidance on high-value capital projects.
* Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to analyze and manage financial risks.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with senior leaders and stakeholders.
