An exciting and progressive job opportunity has become available for someone with 2-3 years of experience within a finance role, who is now looking to take a bit of a step up!
We are recruiting for a detail-oriented Assistant Accountant position to join the finance team at this large Distribution business based in Solihull. The ideal person for this role will play a crucial role in supporting the finance function with month end, quarter end and year end. Ideally for the right person to come in and hit the ground running we are needing them to have worked within an all round finance role, or at least an accounts payable/purchase ledger role, for the last 2-3 years.
This role will be carrying on with the standard responsibilities of an accounts assistant/purchase ledger clerk while also gaining exposure and experience within more senior tasks such as month end, forecasting, budgeting etc.

Key responsibilities:
- Process and manage supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Reconcile supplier statements to ensure all transactions are accounted for.
- Perform bank reconciliations, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including accruals and prepayments.
- Providing support and eventually leading the processing of preparing the monthly budgets and forecasts.
- Assisting with quarter end reporting, including supporting the management accountants with the preparation of the management account packs.
- Assist with any ad-hoc accounting tasks and projects as assigned.
Candidate Attributes and Skills:
- A minimum of 2-3 years experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably in accounts payable.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Immediately available or on a short notice period (one week).
